Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Digital Literacy learning among students of the Early Childhood Islamic Education Study Program (PIAUD) at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. This research focuses on utilizing AI to create children’s stories, the quality of the resulting works, and the impact of this learning on students’ digital literacy skills. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving 28 fifth-semester students enrolled in the Digital Literacy course. Data were collected through classroom observation, reflective interviews, and analysis of students’ video-based story projects. The results show that students successfully used the All-in-One Content Generator to produce educational and imaginative children’s stories grounded in Islamic values. Three representative works, An Inspirational Story of a Grateful Child, Kiko’s Adventure: The Firefly Who Saved the Bamboo Forest, and Taking a Nap is a Sunnah, demonstrate students’ abilities to integrate moral messages, narrative creativity, and digital visual production. The application of AI enhanced students’ digital literacy, pedagogical creativity, and ethical awareness in using technology. This study concludes that AI-based learning in PIAUD offers an innovative model that harmonizes technology, character education, and Islamic pedagogical principles. The study recommends that educators develop reflective digital literacy curricula that balance technology use, moral development, and the educational needs of early childhood learners.
