Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly transformed the competencies required by learners in the twenty-first century. Elementary schools play a crucial role in establishing the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to meet these challenges. Computer education at the elementary level is no longer limited to introducing hardware and software but also serves as a medium for developing critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, digital literacy, and problem-solving skills. This paper analyzes the relevance of computer education content in elementary schools to the competencies required in the twenty-first century for daily life, education, and future careers. The analysis focuses on key components of computer education, including hardware and software introduction, productivity applications, digital literacy, computational thinking, basic coding, and technology ethics. The findings indicate that most computer education content is highly relevant to the development of twenty-first-century skills, particularly in fostering critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, and digital literacy. Furthermore, the integration of computer learning from the elementary level helps students adapt to rapidly changing technological developments and enhances their readiness for the digital era. However, the effectiveness of competency development is strongly influenced by teacher readiness, the availability of technological infrastructure, and student-centered learning strategies. Therefore, strengthening computer education content that aligns with twenty-first-century demands is essential to support the development of adaptive, innovative, and competitive future generations.
