Abstract

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed how students access information, learn, and interact with knowledge sources. Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) face the critical challenge of responding to technological developments without sacrificing their core culture and Islamic educational values. This article aims to formulate a conceptual framework for pesantren-based student education management to navigate the AI era, specifically within the context of MI Sugihan Kampak, Trenggalek Regency. Utilizing a qualitative research design rooted in a constructivist paradigm, this study positions pesantren culture as the foundational pillar of education, while AI is framed as a supporting instrument that must be utilized critically, ethically, and purposefully for educational aims. Conceptual analysis demonstrates that integrating pesantren culture with AI requires systematic management encompassing planning, organizing, implementing, supervising, and evaluating technological integration in student education. This framework balances character and moral formation (akhlak) with digital competency development. Conceptually, pesantren culture-based student education management offers a viable strategy to preserve institutional identity while enhancing students' adaptability to global technological shifts. This conceptual model requires further empirical validation and refinement through field research at MI Sugihan Kampak, Trenggalek Regency.
