Abstract

The world is currently suffering from the heat of terrorism with several religious background. Within Muslim communities, worries come up since particular terrorism actions lean upon Islam as the main source of inspiration. Academics question into this phenomenon, wheter Islam has a peaceful genetics. To answer this question remark, this research has been performed focusing on Islamic traditional education in Indonesia (salaf pesantren). The researcher focused on how the Islamic curriculum was created and applied in two Islamic institutions in East Java, Indonesia: i.e Pesantren Langitan and Pesantren Kedinding Lor to understand further the main ideology on these institutions. This research argues that peaceful ideology in salaf pesantren was created and applied on six religious subjects. Thye formulation appears from the intersectionality of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and Islamic mysticism (tasawuf and tarekat).

Iksan Kamil Sahri, STAI Al Fithrah

Iksan Kamil Sahri, is a head of Research and Outreach Department at STAI Al Fithrah, Surabaya. he took his bachelor and master at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. Now, he is doing his PhD at Post Graduate School UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta with the thesis entitle “The Dialectic of Traditional Islam in Indonesia; Salaf Pesantren Responses to Education Reform Agenda”. Iksan took Partnership in Islamic Education Scholarships at Australian National University in 2016 as a part of his PhD program and also joined the short course program at Coady International Institute, St. Francis Xavier University, Canada in 2013. He writes and edits books such as Fiqih Akhlaqi (moral Ethic in Islam) (2010), Islamic Education Management (2013), Pluralism and Moderate Islam in NU for Indonesia (2014), A Virgin: Islam Concept and Young Female Muslims perspective (2014), Javanese philosophy (2014), Fiqh al Khamsah (2015), and Comprehensive Islam (2015). He also writes for journals, newspapers and magazines.
