Authorship Criteria

Alfazuna: Jurnal Pembelajaran Bahasa Arab dan Kebahasaaraban recognizes authorship as an important academic responsibility that reflects an individual's substantial contribution to the conception, development, implementation, and reporting of scholarly research. All authors listed in a manuscript must have made meaningful intellectual contributions to the research and must be willing to take public responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of their contributions.

To ensure transparency, accountability, and ethical publication practices, Alfazuna applies the following authorship criteria:

1. Eligibility for Authorship

To qualify as an author, an individual must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contribution: Have made a significant intellectual contribution to the conception or design of the study, the development of research methods, the collection of data, or the analysis and interpretation of research findings.

  2. Manuscript Preparation: Have participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval: Have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript submitted for publication.

  4. Accountability: Agree to be accountable for their own contributions and to cooperate in addressing questions concerning the accuracy, integrity, or ethical conduct of the research.

All individuals listed as authors must satisfy these criteria. Individuals who do not meet the authorship requirements but have provided valuable assistance should be acknowledged appropriately in the Acknowledgments section, with their permission.

2. Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the authors and the editorial office of Alfazuna. The corresponding author is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all eligible contributors are included in the author list.

  • Confirming that all listed authors have approved the manuscript and agreed to its submission.

  • Providing accurate author names, institutional affiliations, email addresses, and other required information.

  • Communicating editorial decisions, revision requests, and publication-related information to all co-authors.

  • Ensuring that the manuscript is not simultaneously submitted to another journal.

  • Disclosing relevant conflicts of interest, funding sources, and any applicable research ethics approvals.

  • Coordinating responses to editorial queries and cooperating with the journal in resolving authorship or research integrity concerns.

The corresponding author must obtain the agreement of all co-authors before submitting the manuscript.

3. Author Order and Contributions

The order of authors should be determined collectively by the authors based on their respective scholarly contributions and their agreement. Alfazuna does not impose a universal author-ordering convention; however, the authors must ensure that the selected order accurately reflects their contributions and complies with relevant disciplinary practices.

Authors are encouraged to provide a clear description of each author's contribution, particularly for manuscripts involving multiple researchers. Where appropriate, the journal encourages the use of the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to improve transparency in reporting individual contributions.

4. Changes in Authorship

Any addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors after manuscript submission must be justified and approved by all authors concerned, including any author being added or removed. Requests for changes must be submitted in writing to the editorial office, accompanied by an explanation and confirmation of agreement from all affected authors.

The editorial team reserves the right to suspend the editorial process while a disputed authorship matter is being investigated. Changes in authorship will not be accepted solely for administrative convenience or without sufficient justification.

5. Unacceptable Authorship Practices

Alfazuna does not permit the following practices:

  • Gift or Honorary Authorship: Listing individuals who have not made a qualifying scholarly contribution.

  • Ghost Authorship: Omitting individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research or manuscript.

  • Guest Authorship: Including an individual as an author solely because of their academic position, institutional authority, or reputation.

  • Misrepresentation of Contributions: Providing inaccurate or misleading information about an individual's role in the research.

  • Unauthorized Authorship Changes: Adding, removing, or changing authors without the required agreement.

Any suspected authorship misconduct will be handled in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies and applicable research integrity guidelines.

6. Acknowledgments

Individuals who have contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section. Such contributions may include language editing, technical assistance, administrative support, or other non-authorial contributions.

Authors must obtain permission from individuals named in the Acknowledgments section before including their names.

7. Artificial Intelligence and Authorship

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including generative AI systems, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and ethical conduct of scholarly work.

Authors who use AI tools in preparing a manuscript must remain fully responsible for the submitted content, verify the accuracy of any AI-generated material, and disclose the use of such tools in accordance with the journal's AI Policy. AI tools must not replace the authors' intellectual responsibility or be used to fabricate data, references, or research findings.

8. Editorial Review and Enforcement

The editorial team of Alfazuna reserves the right to request clarification or supporting information regarding authorship and individual contributions whenever necessary. If concerns arise, the journal may contact the authors' institutions or other relevant parties, as appropriate.

Manuscripts involving unresolved authorship disputes or evidence of authorship misconduct may be suspended, rejected, or subject to post-publication action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.

By submitting a manuscript to Alfazuna: Jurnal Pembelajaran Bahasa Arab dan Kebahasaaraban, all authors confirm that the authorship information is accurate, all listed authors meet the stated criteria, and all authors have approved the submitted version.
