A. Author Guidelines for Submissions July 2026 Onward

Submissions are welcome on an ongoing basis, with no deadline. Authors are requested to adhere to the following guidelines when preparing articles for submission:

  1. Prior to submission, register and login as an author to the system. The journal only accepts manuscript submissions through its designated online system. Email submissions will not be processed.
  2. Originality: IJET: The Indonesian Journal of English Teaching exclusively considers articles that have not been previously published, either in print or online.
  3. Manuscript Format:
    • The manuscript should include a title page containing the full title (a maximum of 16 words), the author(s)' full name(s), affiliation(s), and the corresponding author's email address.
    • Submissions should range from 2500 to 7000 words in length, inclusive of the abstract, tables, figures, and references.
    • The manuscript must be formatted for A4 paper size with the following margins: top 3 cm, bottom 3 cm, right 2.5 cm, and left 4 cm.
    • The text should be in Times New Roman font, size 12, with single-line spacing.
    • The article should be structured with the following sections:
      • Field Research: Introduction, Method, Results, Conclusion.
      • Conceptual Papers: Introduction, Theoretical Review, Conclusion.
  4. Peer Review: Please note that the peer review process may take between 2 to 6 months.
  5. Template and Formatting: Authors are required to use the provided template and ensure their submission meets all formatting requirements outlined in these guidelines. [Link to Article Template]
  6. Tables and Figures:
    • Table titles should be in Times New Roman, size 12, and placed above the table. Table content should be in Times New Roman, size 10. Tables should be numbered sequentially throughout the article.
    • Figure titles should be in Times New Roman, size 12, and placed below the figure. Any content within the figure should be in Times New Roman, size 10. Figures should be numbered sequentially throughout the article.
  7. Reference Management: Authors are required to use a reference management software such as Zotero or Mendeley.
  8. Referencing and Citation:
    • The required citation style is APA 7th Edition.
    • Authors must ensure that at least 85% of the references cited are from reputable sources, including journal articles.
    • All cited references must appear within the body of the article.
    • Authors must ensure that all references are recent, having been published within the last 10 years.
  9. Copyrighted Material: It is the author's responsibility to secure permission for the use of any copyrighted material, including images, sound, and video files. While embedding images directly within the text is preferred, if permission cannot be obtained, including a direct link to the image within the text is acceptable.
  10. Acknowledgement: Upon receipt of your submission, an acknowledgment will be sent to the corresponding author.
  11. All communication between authors and the journal will be conducted via the journal's online system or dedicated email (ijet@uinsa.ac.id).

B. SUBMISSION CHECKLIST

As part of the submission process, authors are required to verify that their submission adheres to all of the following items. Submissions that do not comply with these guidelines may be returned to the authors.

  1. Previous Publication: The submission has not been previously published, nor is it under consideration by another journal. (If it has been presented at a conference, this must be stated clearly in the submission)
  2. File Format: The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  3. Referencing: Where available, URLs for the references have been provided. The article uses the APA 7th edition referencing style.
  4. Formatting:
    • The text is single-spaced and uses a 12-point font.
    • The text employs italics, rather than underlining (except for URL addresses).
    • All illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, and not at the end.
    • The article conforms to the journal template.
  5. Article Structure: The article contains the following components: abstract, keywords, introduction, literature review, aim of research, participants, findings, discussion, conclusion, references.
  6. Literature Review: The article refers to previous studies that are current, geographically widespread, and published in major ELT journals. The literature review is critical and contributes to the methodology and discussion.
  7. Study Rigor: If the article reports upon an empirical study, it is conducted and described according to established rigor. This includes clear reporting of participant background factors (e.g., age, sex, L1, L2 competence), treatment conditions (including the academic environment), participant number, duration, pedagogical materials, procedures, data processing, and evaluation.
  8. Scope and Topic:
    • The article aligns with the scope of IJET, focusing on English language education and teaching.
    • The article has a universal, rather than local, appeal and is related to current practices in the ELT community.
    • The topic is interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, or transdisciplinary (if applicable).
  9. Use of Sources: The article is free of illegitimately used content, as evidenced by an anti-plagiarism report.
  10. Language: The article should be written in English and has been proofread by a person with relevant background knowledge and native-speaker-level competence.
  11. Funding Acknowledgement: The article contains a note on sources of funding and potential conflicts of interest. If institutional ethics approval is required, information on approval is also indicated in the methodology section.
  12. Authorship: If the article is written by multiple authors, it is suggested that there is a note indicating the contribution of particular authors.
