Authorship Criteria

IJET (Indonesian Journal of English Teaching)

IJET (Indonesian Journal of English Teaching) recognizes authorship as an important indicator of scholarly contribution and academic responsibility. Authorship is granted to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research, manuscript preparation, or scholarly work submitted for publication. The journal is committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, and fairness in determining authorship.

To qualify for authorship, each author must meet the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contribution: The author must have made a significant contribution to the conception or design of the study, the development of research instruments, data collection, data analysis, interpretation of findings, or other essential aspects of the research.

  2. Drafting or Revising the Manuscript: The author must have participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval: The author must have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript submitted for publication and any subsequent revisions requiring author approval.

  4. Accountability: The author must agree to be accountable for their contributions and cooperate in addressing questions concerning the accuracy, integrity, or ethical conduct of the research.

All individuals listed as authors must meet these criteria. Individuals who have contributed to the work but do not meet the authorship requirements should be acknowledged appropriately, with their consent, in the Acknowledgments section.

Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the editorial office throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes. The corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors have approved the manuscript, agreed to the author order, and consented to its submission to IJET.

Author Order and Changes in Authorship

The order of authors should reflect the agreement among the contributors regarding their respective scholarly contributions. Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must be justified in writing and approved by all authors concerned, including any author being added or removed. The journal reserves the right to investigate authorship disputes and suspend editorial processing until the matter has been resolved.

Unacceptable Authorship Practices

IJET does not permit the following practices:

  • Gift or honorary authorship: Listing individuals who have not made qualifying scholarly contributions.

  • Guest authorship: Including individuals solely to increase the manuscript's credibility or likelihood of acceptance.

  • Ghost authorship: Omitting individuals who have made substantial qualifying contributions without appropriate justification.

  • Misrepresentation of contributions: Providing inaccurate information about an individual's role in the research or manuscript preparation.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools does not qualify an AI system as an author. AI tools cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, or ethical conduct of scholarly work. Authors remain fully responsible for the content of their manuscripts, including any material generated or assisted by AI tools, and must comply with IJET's applicable AI policy and disclosure requirements.

By submitting a manuscript to IJET, all listed authors confirm that they meet the journal's authorship criteria, have approved the submitted version, and accept responsibility for the integrity of the work. The journal may request clarification or supporting documentation regarding authorship and individual contributions when necessary.
